Social Responsibility Project - Fish Factory Motherwell

The Department of Development Studies, has been appointed Implementing Agent for a Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) community-oriented Social Responsibility project in the Swartkops Estuary.

The project is aimed at the development of the existing Amilinda Fish Farm which will produce fresh water crayfish and khoi Fish and will , institutionalize and empower members of the local communities, namely Amalinda and Mdantsane.

The project ended at the end of 2008. However there is a possibility of an extension and expansion of the original project.
